What Amanda drinks every morning!

What Amanda drinks every morning!

Hi love bug!

Today, I am sharing something that makes my stomach flat, hair grow, skin tight, and also warms my soul.

(And, no, I didn’t join an MLM. I love MLMs but that is not what is happening here.)

One of the things I get asked the most is this:

What is your morning routine?

As you may have heard me say before, I don’t do routines.

I am the least structured/scheduled person ever.

I wake up at a different time every day.

I hit up workout classes at various times.

I sometimes work at nights. Sometimes in the morning.

I do different things at various times and let it evolve and fluctuate over time.

It is all based on what feels aligned, what I have going on, if I’m feeling grumpy or energized first thing, and lots of various factors.

(Trusting that it is all always working out for you and knowing that you will always show up to do your part each day is key.)

There is a funny idea that successful people are doing some sort of magical thing that is making them successful.

And if you just do that special thing you’ll be successful too.

Like reading a certain number of books a week or starting their day with a certain number of minutes a certain meditation.

In my opinion, that is all silliness.

You become successful by deciding to be successful and doing your part each day.

And of course, if that thing helps you feel like you are starting your day in the right vibe, then that’s amazing.

Like anything, it’s your thoughts about the thing or belief in the thing, that ends up matter a lot more than the thing itself.

In the vein of doing things you love and believing in them…

I sort of accidentally created a morning ritual that I am obsessed with. #shocking

Over the past few months, I have begun to take a beach walk each day.

Sometimes this happens in the morning.

I sometimes instastory moments of my beach walk (from dolphins to me skipping around to waves to my morning drink).

Overwhelming amounts of people keep asking Team AF and I what is in my cup!

And while it’s astounding to all of us that I am drinking the same thing every day…

It’s true! I am!

On today’s blog I am sharing what is in my magic morning potion and why I love it!

This is something that I completely made up + felt intuitively guided to.

I am SO excited to share this with you!

#1 MINT TEA

Throughout my world travels, I have found that I can get someone to give me mint tea in nearly every country I visit.

It has become a staple of life for me. I love love love love love me some mint tea.

This is my base!

You can totally replace this with coffee, ps!  (I don’t do caffeine. Gave it up in grad school!)

#2 BLUE GREEN ALGEA PROTEIN

My friend Kourtney K. told me about this.

That part is not true. But, one time, I was leaving a Pilates class in Calabasas and was Googling what the best grocery store option.

When Erewhon (best grocery store in the world) came up on my search, I clicked on a link that informed me that Kourtney buys this blue green algae there.

Now, so do I. You can also get it on amazon however.

#3 MO’ BETTER BELLY

On the same trip to Erewhon, I found myself talking to a girl in the vitamin aisle.

She said, “Omg. You have to try this. It makes bloating disappear. It will change your life forever.”

I said, “You mean like, I eat a cheese plate the night before with friends and the next day have a food baby, this will make it disappear?”

She said, “Yes!” and here we are. While I am just taking a little each day as a supportive tonic like the directions suggest, word on the street (and on the vitamin aisle) is that you can take more for other belly discomforts.

My overall digestion has been incredible since I started using it.

Plus! It tastes good.

#4 COLLAGEN PEPTIDES:

DID YOU KNOW that you can get as much protein from Collagen Peptides as your protein powder?

Do you know what’s even better than that? This stuff instantly dissolves in any drink and doesn’t add a yucky or grain situation to your drink like most protein powders.

They say it’s good for the elasticity of your skin, prevents wrinkles, supports hair growth, and improves gu health.

It also adds creaminess to your tea or coffee #yourewelcome

I haven’t been this happy about a health food product since I discovered coconut oil.

#5 BONUS: DUST FROM MOON JUICE

Some days, I get a little crazy and add edible intelligence, edible radiance, edible strength, edible attraction, edible joy and edible rest to my cup in the form of dusts from Moon Juice in LA.

I do not have a picture of this (thought all six jars are in my kitchen — I’m in bed) but I did find a sampler pack for you on Amazon.

(My fave is power dust!)

There you have it! That is my morning drink.

We’ve left you the links above for anything you feel guided to try!

Remember — this is YOUR life. You are the expert of what is best for you and works best for you!

Have fun! Trust yourself. And figure it out as you go!

(Wait! One more thing! I want to hear from you below!)

I can’t wait to hear from you!

What is your favorite thing to start the day with? Do you have a morning drink?

What do you think about morning rituals?

before and after story

Hi pretty friends…

I have to tell you this story about a girl I’ve had the privilege of working with:

Once upon a time a girl inquired about life-coaching via my website. Let’s just call her “P’…

P was 19 years old & from the Bronx — from what she calls the ghetto.

After we had a phone consultation, we immediately began working together doing online life-coaching sessions.

When I was in NYC a few weeks after we started, we got to meet.

She showed up to the coffee shop in sweat pants and with a bandana covering her matted hair. She walked with her head down. She seemed uncomfortable in her body. To large for any room. Too full of shame. The hurtful verbal abuse from her mother and alcoholism of her father (not to mention the shame, guilt and pain from all sorts of other abuses that I won’t go into) covered her. She didn’t smile that day.

I’ve had a lot of fun with fashion this Fall.

I doubted that I would be able to keep up with my blog or anything fashion related during my doctorate program, but in the name of self-love, I’m proving myself wrong. I refuse to spend the next three-and-a-half-ish years of my life feeling/looking like a frumpy mess. I believe, whole-heartedly, that we must dress for the life we want and that we must let our outsides be an expression of our insides. You deserve to feel good about the way you look. You deserve to wear clothes that you LOVE. You deserve to feel amazing, every day. Fashion, for me, is self-love. It’s taking good care of myself. It’s showing up for myself and feeling pretty even if I am just fighting traffic and going to class or going to the grocery store and seeing clients. It’s not vain or shallow. It’s an expression of my truest self. It’s my creative outlet.

It’s art.

It’s showing the world who you are and what you want. For me that often means a style that is sort of feminine and fun with a touch of hippie. For you it’s likely something very different. I think it’s important to let my style resonate with who I am on the inside. Have you heard a song that touches your soul? That makes you feel like someone else on this planet knows what it feels like to be alive – to be you? Fashion is kind of like that. The right outfit resonates to a deep place instead of me and matches me. It’s like it vibrates at the same level I do.

Some outfits make you feel consistent, congruent and like yourself.

I heard this closet-clean-out suggestion the other day: My good friend, Jennifer, was interviewing, the author, Tess Whitehurst on the radio.  Tess suggested to go through your closet while songs that resonate with you play. We all have various sides of us, but I imagined playing my Self-Love Playlist on Spotify which are my favorite fun/happy/I-am-obsessed-with-life songs (i.e. the songs that represent the life I want and a side of myself that I want to have full expression). Tess suggested that you take everything out of your closet, and as you go through the items, and only put back in things you feel good in, that match your heart.

My personal rule has always been that at least four times a year, I must throw out anything I do not love that also does not serve me. If I don’t love it but it serves a purpose OR I love it, but it serves no purpose, I keep it. If it does neither – I toss it. (Click here for this and 14 other life-changing tips.)

I believe that donating/selling all the extra stuff you’ve held on to send a message to the world that you are ready for more and that you know that there is enough to go around. I believe that there is enough out there for me and that no matter what happens, I will have enough. For me, holding on to random crap feels exactly the same as holding on to the mentality of lack that I had for many  years. I choose to keep only want I love, giving someone else that chance to love what I no longer do, giving me the opportunity to earn as I sell, giving to others things they need as I donate, and clearing space in my closet to be able to see and be grateful for what I have.

I hope this inspires you to do a closet clean out that feels good to you and make room for the kind of style, year and life you desire.

My Fall Style: hairpieces, faux fur, faux leather accents, mala beads, wine as a color, winter white, winter white, winter white, lots and lots of gold, little rings, houndstooth, and as many statement pieces as possible.

Inspiration: Shorts for Fall

I am a Summer Time Girl.

I love: The sun. The pool. Tanning. Food Trucks. Patios. Late night walks. Summer drinks. Al fresco dinning. Fireflies. The beach. Fireworks. Ice cream…

And… short  denim cut off shorts.

Luckily, I live in a place where I can pretend like it’s summer half way through the Fall. Whether this is true for you or not, you might be like me and feel not quite ready to give up the shorts you’ve been collecting all summer.

Below are 16 really pretty ways you can wear your fave pairs of daisy dukes just a little bit longer.

Enjoy!

How-To Tuesday! Simple & Sunkissed: Every Day Make Up!

Beautiful beautiful friends! Hello – hello!

I have missed you!

So as many of you know – I recently moved. The unpacking and organizing (ie figuring out which closet shoes go in and which cabinet holds the martini glasses) and settling (you know, deciding where my new meditation corner is and what fan speed works best at night) is mostly done and I am back and ready to share with y’all! I’ll do a How To Move Into a House Built in the 1920’s Without Going Crazy Blog shortly. Until then I have something new to share: How To Tuesdays!

natural makeup

So, I’ve gotten quite a few beauty how-to questions over the past few months, but due to the average nature of the blog, never answered them publicly. The other day, however, I set aside an entire day and shot 7 videos that will answer the 7 most asked questions.

Today I am happy to answer the first question, how I do my every day natural make up!

This is my first attempt at video how-to’s instead of regular picture tutorials, so please forgive my learning process and enjoy!

Self-Love Day: Birthday Style!

My dear friend Paige Sauer and I are hosting a worldwide party this Saturday, March 2nd!

–

It’s a party you should definitely partake and I can’t wait to tell your more about it! I even made a video!

Check check check it out here: SELF LOVE SATURDAY!

–

I do acts of self-love for myself almost daily. If I do not take care of myself, I have nothing left to give to anyone else. Since my primary life goal is to help people feel better, I have to be able to be on my game all the time. When I don’t pray, meditate, journal, do yoga, and breathe… then I am an ugly, selfish hot mess of a human. . . no . . . really.

–

Every once and a while I dedicate not just 10 minutes, an hour, or an after noon to my self-love, but an ENTIRE day! The last time I did this was on my birthday. The goal was loving myself in 10 ways that day.

–

It looked something like this:

{in bed til noon + pink berry for breakfast + new top + soy latte + long walk +
blow out + sharing happy news + SATC thrift store find + fav wine + dinner with friends}

–

1. in bed til noon 2. pink berry for breakfast 3. New Top - ON SALE! Woot 4. Soy Salted Caramel Latte 5. Wandering Not Lost 6. Blow OUT!9. Chocolate Mouse Cake

IMG_3377 8. NEW DRESS - halston heritage  11. Birthday dinner 10. Chianti with friends

–

I definitely felt love on my birthday and was more energized to do the things I needed to do for the rest of the week!

–

–

Hope you can join us this weekend, for SELF LOVE SATURDAY!

–

Upload your take on the day by sharing via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

I will be retweeting each act to my 1,000 followers and sharing all the pics I get here on the blog!

Just use the hashtag #SELFLOVESAT on Twitter/Instagram or tag me on Facebook!

–

Remember: Self-Love is a vital part of having a positive impact on the whole-wide world.
